June 20 (113 miles/week)

AM: 12 miles easy, strides, drills

PM: 7 miles easy

I hit the fire trail in the morning, taking it relaxed on the way up and coasting quickly on the way down. At one point during a steep downhill, I tried to find a way to maximize my speed while staying in control. I ended up making almost ski-like turns, bounding with every step. Given how steep the hill was, it made me able to descend rather quickly. I'm entering a trail race in August, and tackling this issue has crossed me mind more than once.

After sleeping and watching the US Open in the afternoon, I biked over to campus and met David from the SCTC for a quick shake-out run. I still felt fine.

I can definitively say that I'm running more right now than I ever have in my life. Other than work, I have abundant cool weather, daylight and free time, which has made it easy to log the miles. The target next week is 120. If that happens, it will be an all-time weekly high.
