I'm pretty sure that this equals the longest training run I've ever done, and it's also the first time I've ever run this long "nihilist"-style. Why nihilist, you ask? Because I believed in nothing: no water, no gels, and no Gatorade. In the past, I've at least stopped for water.
Today's run was just me and my watch for 2:45:00 through Duke's Campus, the Al Buehler trail, and Duke Forest. For easy and steady runs during marathon training, I try not to take anything. A big part of the marathon is using your own body as an efficient fuel source, and while ultimately exhausting, runs like this have helped me in the past. It rained for the better part of the last 15 miles.
