Rock Creek Park in the morning, followed by CCT briefly in the evening.
After work, after meeting the photographer at Pike's Peek a few weeks ago, I went to a photo shoot in Rockville, where I was under the impression that Nike was casting area runners to be in a photo shoot with Alan Webb. "Could be cool," I had told myself, "and an interesting footnote in my running career."
But when I got there, there were a bunch of male models hanging around, most of whom weren't runners, didn't really like running, and were way too diesel to be runners. As far as I could tell, I had the least modeling experience, and the most running experience--not exactly what I was expecting. Thus, they took a few shots of me showing "quiet confidence" in clothes I literally took off the rack at the Sports Authority where it was shot (the photographer just told me Nike was meeting candidates--I assumed this just meant talking and handshakes).
Needless to say, I didn't get the part, and I had to endure a few awkward moments. Shame on me, anyway, for pursuing something that at best I didn't have enough information on and at worst could have been someone trying to scam me out of a commission. I'm not sure; soooo many things about this were setting off red flags. I can definitely say that I haven't endured that many awkward moments in quite a while.
C'est la vie--looks like my male modeling career never got wheels.
