AM: 4 miles easy
PM: 10 miles easy
I woke before 5:00 AM to get in a shuffled shake-out before getting on a plane to San Diego, where I'll be the next few days for work (and where my coworkers will surely tire of my Anchorman references).
By the time I embarked on an afternoon run in sunny Southern California, my body nearly went into shock jumping from a 19-degree windchill this morning to the pleasant 65-degree warmth of San Diego. I ran north along the harbor from my hotel to a loop around Harbor Island. The legs felt a little weird from the flight, but I'm otherwise feeling in top form after my highest week of mileage since September.

Whenever my team went down to SDSU for the Aztec XC Invite, we'd quote classic Anchorman lines like, "It's so damn hot. Milk was a bad choice."
PR - GO RUN THE TRAILS BEHIND TORREY PINES....please.
I think you've been there before but if not, from the Harbor:
- Get on 5 North to the Genesee Avenue exit (it's the one after La Jolla Village Drive - about 10 minutes from where you are);
- Get off the exit and take a left (west) onto Genesse;
- Genesse turns into North Torrey Pines Road (keep going - road naturally curbs right);
- Look for and follow the signs for the Torrey Pines Golf Course (the parking area is on the left but you must exit on the right towards Callan Road to access it);
- Park and run out of the parking lot to the left...follow the sidewalk for half a mile and you'll see all the trails lead into the dunes.
You won't get lost, might see a rattler and never, ever forget you were there.
Enjoy!

I'll try to make it to Torrey Pines, but I don't have a car (and am too young to rent one in most places, anyway).
I guy I work with has a brother out here (who also works for Qualcomm) who says that same trail near the golf course is his favorite place to run in the world. I'm dying to see it, so if I can't make it this trip, it'll definitely be on my list when I make my return visit...and there will definitely be a return visit. San Diego has a pretty cool vibe to it.
Wish you were out there when I am, because there a few places we could hit that will blow you away.
I'm back out there in just over a week for a few days (Feb. 9-11), will you be there too? If not we may be able to coordinate something the next time you go as I need to be there with more consistency now.
And the age thing...Jesus Christ Reaves...I forget how young you kids are. Jeeeeeeeeeesh!
