I got in a run with Valerie's dad, John. We did a little exploring, running over a natural gas pipeline and through some woods outside of Calvert Cliffs (the park, not the nuclear plant). He's attacking the 3-hour barrier at Shamrock in March after coming agonizingly close in the past, turning in a 3:00 and 3:01 on a multiple occasions. Though the splits in the park were undoubtedly slow because of the footing, we were running pretty comfortably under 7:00 pace by the end.
The weather today was also the nicest we've had all week in Maryland by far. After inhaling some lunch and the last bit of (more) pumpkin pie, I gave my farewells and made the 4.5-hour drive back to Durham, where I'll be until December 10 before making another road trip...this time to Club XC Nationals in KY. As for that, I'm psyched: we're going to have a solid team.
